Manhattan Scientifics Unveils Proprietary Hydrogen-Powered Bicycle At International Fuel Cell Conference. Company Sees Significant Co-Manufacturing Opportunities.

Lucerne, Switzerland July 13, 2000 - Manhattan Scientifics Inc. (OTC BB: MHTX) unveiled a demonstration prototype fuel cell powered bicycle at the European Fuel Cell Forum this week in Lucerne, Switzerland. The demonstration produced loud applause from attendees as Petra Koschany, NovArs General Manager and wife of chief fuel cell scientist, Dr. Arthur Koschany, rode the bike around the hall.

Engineered in the company's Passau, Germany facility, the new Hydrocycle is a motorized electric bicycle fueled by hydrogen. It is noiseless, ecologically clean and completely pollution-free. The Hydrocycle produces no emissions other than a small amount of water vapor and can run for about 100 kilometers at speeds up to 30 km per hr. Representatives from large and small bicycle and scooter manufacturing companies in Asia, Europe and the United States have contacted Manhattan Scientifics COO Jack Harrod for more details.

Harrod said the company intends to enter into partnership relationships as quickly as possible with manufacturers that will enable them to mass produce this new product. Senior management at the company's New York office said the company is receiving numerous requests for more details from small and large manufacturers. The company has filed numerous international patents to protect the Hydrocycle technology. Harrod said he was pleased with the response from potential industrial partners and the enthusiastic reception from the conference attendees.

"The NovArs mid-range technology, which ranges from several watts to several kilowatts, has potential applications for laptop computers and other portable electronics including cellular phones, PDA's, golf carts, wheel chairs, cordless power tools, electric kitchen appliances, alarm systems and remote power stations." Harrod continued, "We have the know-how, patents and engineering talent. Now we need to close with industrial corporate team partners to begin commercializing our technology."

Marvin Maslow, Manhattan Scientifics' CEO said, "The Hydrocycle technology represents an important breakthrough in clean, affordable personal transportation and may be capable of dramatically changing transportation habits of urban populations in Asia, Europe and North America."

"There has been a lot of talk about how the world will soon enter into the hydrogen-powered age. I think we, at Manhattan Scientifics, may be taking the first affordable and mass producible steps. Personally, I'd like to see an end to the pollution choking effect of the two-stroke engine throughout much of Asia," Maslow said.

In an earlier statement, the company said, "The Japan Cycle Press estimates there will be 1 billion electric bikes on the roads by the year 2020, mostly in Asia with smaller niche markets in Europe and the United States. In Asian countries such as India, massive amounts of goods are transported every day by scooters driven by heavily polluting two-cycle engines. These societies are literally choking on gas and diesel fumes. Electric powered bikes and scooters could provide significant improvements for their environments and consequently their economies."
